Hi now, Davao

Look at this gorgeous view of Davao city.

Look at all those herbs and aromatics. I was able to snap off a couple of basil leaves fresh from the stem (and apparently there are different kinds of basil) — and they were so fragrant.

Look at all these lovely varieties of gumamela covering the wishing well surface of Lola’s Garden.

Look at this gurgling brook & waterfall. This area actually has cottages that face waterfalls — perfect for honeymooners.

Look at this brilliant blue-green peacock that greeted us after a filling lunch of unbelievably fresh salad greens. That’s free range, people!

I have a job that’s heavily involved in the tourism industry, but ironically it’s my job that keeps me from traveling. So, I am incredibly grateful to have been brought to Davao for work, and even more grateful that I have relatives over there who dropped all previous commitments to spend the day with me and oblige me my favorite activity — food tripping! I won’t give my gluttony away by posting food pics in this particular entry. But let’s just say that contrary to what my friends have told me, Davao food isn’t bad at all.

And… did you know? Mangosteens are only in season once every two years. Also, I am super jealous that Davao has all these retail concepts that Cebu doesn’t have — and that they’re very generous with the discounts. Total draw for bargain-hunting me.

(Photos taken at Eden Nature Park & Resort. It’s officially my favorite Davao destination.)
